The attackers who are believed to be over 100 fled the scene but four of them were captured and taken into custody.
Tha attack happened at around 2 am on Thursday morning according to police.
According to witnesses, on getting reports of the attack, the police went to the scene and were were confronted by the assailants who were armed with crude weapons. The six MRC members were killed in the ensuing clash and several policemen were injured.
Malindi Deputy OCPD is said to be among the officers who was injured in the attack.
The four assailants arrested were armed with pangas and guns and police say that a major manhunt operation has been launched to round up the other assailants who managed to escape and recover the stiolen gun.
“We are in the forest now hunting down the attackers and hope to make more arrests. The injured officer is in stable condition,” said Coast Police boss AggreyAdoli.
The deceased officer who was on duty at the casino was first hit by a stone before the assailants overwhelmed him with machetes before snatching his gun.
