Ms Kihika garnered 36 votes defeating her rival former Molo Mp and lawyer Macharia Mukiri who only got 19 votes in the elctions held on Friday at Naakuru County Assembly chambers. However, County Assembly Clerk Joseph Malinda ordered a second round of voting since she had failed to get the required two thirds majority in the first round.
“I am overwhelmed by the confidence shown in me by the members and I promise to discharge my new duties in an impartial and fair manner,” she said.
She asked the County Ward Representatives to table motions addressing challenges facing the cosmopolitan county. “I seek your support as I execute my mandate and promise to make Nakuru a shining example to other counties,” she added.
