Head of Public Service Francis Kimemia and the Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo are being used by President elect- Uhuru Kenyatta to gag CORD leaders from holding countrywide rallies, alleges sports minister Ababu Namwamba.
Speaking during special prayers held at the Voice of Salvation and Healing church in Busia on Sunday, Namwamba who is also Budalangi MP elect, said when Kimemia and Kimaiyo banned countrywide rallies they appeared to be targeting CORD leaders and supporters in an attempt to gag their constitutional right for expression.
“It is discriminatory to purport to be stopping CORD from holding rallies while allowing President –elect Uhuru Kenyatta to hold public rallies everywhere even though he has not been officially sworn in due to the case CORD has lodged in court disputing the Presidential election,”Namwamba said.
Namwamba has appealed to CORD supporters all over the country to uphold peace as they await the outcome of the Presidential petition.
