Dida asks voters to pray and fast for peace

Mohammed Abduba Dida, the Alliance For Real Change presidential candidate, has asked Kenyans to fast and pray for peaceful elections.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, Dida said he hopes Tuesday will be a better day for Kenya, but people should appease God who has given the country a second chance.

“In 2007/ 2008, God handed us a yellow card as a warning after the killing of over 1,200, and displacing 600,000 others.

We need to ask for his mercies.” He believes this can only come through fasting and praying.

“Peace will not just come. Let us fast on Sunday through Tuesday and pray for peace.” In his characteristic unhinged style that came to fore during the first presidential debate, Dida added that in history, wise men go hungry to achieve something.

“People are very energetic, and they would like to be out and about. Cut off the energy by going hungry.”

He also thanked the Independent Boundaries and Election Commission ( IEBC) for allowing him to campaign.

Possible rigging

At the same time, Dida added that he recently received a document that points to possible rigging plot.

“The letter had codes that from a meeting with IEBC and the other presidential candidates I know should not be accessible. I shared the letter with Honourables Paul Muite and Martha Karua, as they are lawyers, for interpretation. Dida did not show The Standard On Sunday the document. Muite admitted to having received the letter, but declined to comment on it.

“At this stage, we need to be careful about such cases. As leaders, we need to be careful about utterances that may be inflammatory.”

Mr Muite also said that different political camps are known to play dirty games and fabricate things. “We, however, should not dismiss such issues. It is for the IEBC and investigators to look into it and assure Kenyans of a transparent process.”
Muite also feels that the over 10,000 individuals that IEBC reported to have double registered should be arrested.
