A team appointed to probe threats on Chief Justice Willy Mutunga failed to hand over its report as expected on Monday.
The team is composed of the police, officials from Director of Public Prosecutions and the Attorney General.
A meeting of the National Security Advisory Committee directed that the issue be investigated and a report to be made public be handed over on Monday.
Sources said a preliminary report had been prepared but Head of Public Service, who is also the chairman of NSAC, Francis Kimemia was not present to receive it, as he had accompanied President Kibaki to Othaya.
A source hinted the report could be handed over on Tuesday.
So far the team led by deputy head of investigations at CID headquarters Mr Piu Macharia has interrogated a number of people over the issue.
Nothing to do with it
Among them is a man who was found photocopying the threatening letter that was sent to Dr Mutunga. He was however released after police said he was being set up and had nothing to do with it.
“We are hitting dead end in every tip we get but the probe is on. The man was just photocopying the letter and had nothing to do with it,” said an officer aware of the investigations.
