A rally attended by Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Saturday, almost came to a standstill after thousands of Kabarnet residents began chanting Jubilee slogans.
Roads Minister Franklin Bett and his Regional Development counterpart Fred Gum0 had a hectic time trying to calm the crowd at Kabarnet Municipal stadium as Mr Odinga watched in pain.
“We should learn to tolerate each other’s divergent views. Even when somebody is going to marry, nobody chases the bridegroom away even if you are not happy with him,” Bett told the crowd using the Kalenjin language.
Gumo on his part accused the Jubilee leaders of causing the disruption, but said he was used to such political tactics.
As calm restored, the PM who looked dull said he was best suited to be Kenyans’ fourth president because of his reform credentials.
This was the second time the PM was facing such hostility. A rally in Embu a week ago was disrupted by rowdy youths who pelted stones to the PM and his entourage, claiming he had attacked their leader Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta.
