Mudavadi: West Firm On ICC Suspects Threats

Amani Coalition presidential candidate Mr Musalia Mudavadi on Sunday warned Kenyans that relations with the international community might suffer if the International Criminal Court (ICC) suspects are elected to power.

Mr Mudavadi said Kenya might face economic sanctions that will have adverse effects on developments.

“I am not an authority to speak on behalf of the western nations but what I am sharing with you is the experience that is expected if the sanctions are imposed,” said Mudavadi after attending a church service at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic church in Voi.

He at the same time dismissed the opinion polls that have consistently ranked him low saying it was a ploy by the pollsters to glorify two coalitions.

“I do not believe in that because the outcome of the research is skewed towards two contenders. I will not be scared of the results,” he said.

He said that Amani coalition had sponsored 300 parliamentary candidates, 1,200 county representatives and several governor and senate candidates.

Mr Mudavadi also pledged to ensure a peaceful election and asked Kenyans to shun tribalism, which was a major cause of the 2008 post election violence.
