Foreign Affairs PS to kenya, Thuita freed on Sh2m bond

Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Thuita Mwangi was on Thursday freed on Sh2 million bond pending the ruling of an application in which he wants his plea deferred as he seeks constitutional interpretation of charges against him before the High Court.

Thuita appeared in court alongside ministry official Allan Mburu and they did not take plea.

They applied for their plea taking to be deferred to March 14 to enable them get documents from state agencies that held inquiries into the Tokyo Embassy sale saga.

They also want to file an application before the High Court to seek constitutional interpretation of the charges against them.

Thuita was arrested on Wednesday and was expected to face charges of abuse of office, willful failure to comply with the law and applicable procedures relating to procurement, conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption and false assumption of authority.

The ruling of their application will be delivered on March 8. -The Standard
