The rampage started at around 8pm due to a power failure. The students had moved from their hostels and started stoning vehicles passing along the highway. It is said that an unidentified student allegedly threw a flowerpot full of soil at the officer. He was taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret but he later passed on.
Four students have been arrested and are helping the police with investigations. The four are being held at the Langas police headquarters.
