Former First Lady Lucy Kibaki had her office in the NHIF building. Mrs Kenyatta however is preferring to work on her yet to be announced platform from the State House.
There has been no indication as to what Mrs Kenyatta platform will be and it will be interesting to know what matters affecting Kenyans are passionate to her.
Traditionally, first ladies do not have a spelled out role and most of them choose to speak to matters that are dear to their hearts.
A first lady can however help the President in pushing the administration’s message in an unofficial role.
Former US First Lady Hillary Clinton was involved in pushing Universal health care reform when her husband Bill Clinton was President. The reform bill ultimately failed.
Current US First Lady Michelle Obama is passionate about military families in the US and has raised millions of dollars to help them especially when their family members are fighting in a war.
It will also be interesting to see how Mrs Kenyatta who has not been eager to say much in public will handle her duties in what is very likely to be in a public role.
