Muchai garnered 7,642 votes against Nguyai's 6,802 while Kiragu floored Mwathi by 9,581 to 4,550 in the hotly contested TNA nominations.
Mwathi has for the past five years been a member of the Parliamentary Service Commission while Nguyai served as the Local Government assistant minister.
In Gatundu North, Kigo Njenga got 6,615 votes to beat outgoing MP Clement Waibara. Joseph Ngugi received 10,335 to win the Gatundu South nominations to replace TNA presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta.
Only outgoing Githunguri MP Njoroge Baiya will defend his seat after he won the TNA nominations with 12,000 votes against Karanja Chutha's 7,200.
Juja MP William Kabogo won with a landslide in the TNA nominations for Kiambu governor, defeating businessman Ngarari Mwaura. Business tycoon Kimani Wamatangi beat veteran politician Nginyo Kariuki for senate.
Ann Gathecha emerged the winner in the women's representative seat. In Lari constituency, businessman Mburu Kahangara won the TNA ticket with 13,019 votes with his closest challenger, Mwenda Wanene, getting 1,991 votes.
Outgoing Lari MP David Njuguna will defend his seat on a Peoples Party of Kenya. In Kikuyu constituency, Kimani Ichungwa won with 5,213 votes while Jude Njomo won in Kiambu with 4,820 votes.
Immediate Kiambaa MP Stanley Githunguri received a direct Kanu nomination for Kiambu senator. Alice Wambui won TNA's ticket for Thika Town, Esther Gathoko won in Ruiru while ....won in Juja.
