It seems the issue of hate speech has now attracted fierce battle between two renowned scholars who have a history of reforms during their heydays in the country.
On Thursday, Prof Makau Mutua who is a distinguished lecturer of Law at the Buffalo University in New York launched scathing attacks to Communication Permanent secretary Dr Bitange Ndemo for accusing him of propagating hate speech on in his usual Sunday column on Sunday Nation.
Up to midnight on Thursday, Makau Mutua was ranting on Twitter, and at some point the Communication PS joined in.
Bitange Ndemo defended his government’s position, with Makau Mutua threatening to take legal action against the PS more than once.

He then addressed the Information PS

To which Bitange replied,

And the PS was ready to elaborate,

@makaumutua IEBC problems are cased by politicians and a hopeless procurement law. They did not move nominations to 17th.
@makaumutua You know the constitution is to be implemented progressively but you blame IEBC for not registering diaspora.
