Campaigner crushed to death in Naivasha

The ongoing campaigns in Naivasha turned tragic when a middle aged man was crushed to death by a truck.

The youth who had been campaigning for one of the parliamentary aspirants was run down by the truck during a campaign in Karagita estate.

It is said that the man lost his gripping and fell down with the lorry running over him and he died on the spot.

“The campaigns had been going on well and we just heard a scream before the man fell from the moving lorry and was crushed to death,” he said.

In another incident, a motorcycle operator was seriously injured after he hit a campaign car in the town.

“The operator was trying to overtake when he hit the campaign car and he has been taken to Naivasha district hospital in critical condition,”

Naivasha deputy OCPD Paul Korir called on the aspirants and their campaigners to be careful and observe traffic rules.

“We have already lost one man during the campaign and we call on those involved in the exercise to be careful and respect other road users,” he said.
