A somber mood hangs over Rikenye village, Embaro sublocation, Rigoma ward, Nyamira County after five family members died yesterday in mysterious circumstances.The sixth member of the above family in Kitutu Masaba died yesterday evening taking the toll of the mysterious deaths to six kins in the past four days.
A brother who came from Nairobi was also rushed to hospital where doctors are yet to diagnose any disease.
Theories include rat poison, food poison and witchcraft. A member of the family intimates that a hawk cried uncontrollably before it fell from the sky and died.
They tried to burn it but it apparently refused to be consumed by fire.
Four more hawks have refused to vacate the compound.
Doctors came to collect samples of water and food from the home while Elders also invited (Abaganga) witchdoctors who also collected samples.
