Police are looking for a syndicate suspected to be behind the printing of fake identity cards for foreigners in Eastleigh estate, Nairobi.

This is after detectives who visited the site of the Sunday night blast found about 150 alien ID cards and a Very High Frequency (VHF) radio behind Galma Supermarket, near the crime scene.

Unknown attackers had on Sunday night hurled an explosive at the Buffalo Guest House on Muratina Road injuring Justus Mwanzia Mulwa on the face and chest.

He was rushed to Radiant Hospital but later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital.

Details forwarded

Nairobi PPO Moses Ombati on Monday said they had forwarded details of the fake documents to the registrar of persons as investigations into the matter began.

Though police had earlier reported that they had arrested nine suspects including eight Yemeni nationals in connection with the blast, Mr Ombati yesterday clarified that they were all Somalis.

“We have established that all the suspects arrested are Somalis. Some of them could not express themselves and were mistaken to be Yemenis,” said Mr Ombati.

The police boss stated that more security officers had been posted in the area which has lately witnessed attacks that have left many people dead and several injured.

Last week, Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan and 15 people were injured in a grenade that also left two others dead.
