Eldoret North MP William Ruto has ruled out a runoff in next year’s polls, saying the Jubilee Coalition will sweep to power in the first round to save Kenyans from footing high election bill.

Speaking at Oloshapani in Narok South on Thursday, Ruto who is also the United Republican Party (URP) leader, exuded confidence that the alliance would form the next government.
“We are confident that the Jubilee Coalition will win the March General Election. We are doing all we can to avoid a run-off and win the election by a landslide,” Ruto said.

Ruto said there would be no violence during the elections like 2007 and called on Kenyans to vote for leaders irrespective of their ethnic and religious backgrounds.

The Eldoret North lawmaker also dismissed assertions by Prime Minister Raila Odinga that he will confiscate grabbed public land, warning it would be a recipe for chaos if implemented.

He said that the Jubilee Coalition, which comprises Uhuru Kenyatta and Musalia Mudavadi, would not confiscate anybody’s land but instead offer subsidies to farmers to boost food production in the country.

The former Agriculture Minister urged Kenyans to send Coalition of Reform and Democracy (CORD) leaders into a “political dustbin” because they have nothing new to offer to Kenyans.
