Moses Maloba, 22, hit Elijah Ogolla several times on the head using a hoe, killing him on the spot. Ogolla is said to have been against his nephew’s decision to sell part of his land.
According to a witness, Mr Ouma Ogolla, the two were enjoying a local brew together at their homestead when they started quarrelling.
Negative response
“The young man did not take his uncle’s advice positively and instead opted to confront him,” said the witness.
He said the confrontation resulted in a fight that saw the older man overpowered.
Ogolla then allegedly went inside the house, picked a machete and attacked his nephew, but he ducked.
On missing his target, the old man is said to have stumbled and fallen to the ground.
Before he could recover his footing, his assailant quickly picked up the hoe and hit him on the head several times, killing him.
Murder charges
Maloba then picked both weapons and presented himself to the nearest police station.
He was arrested and later arraigned in court to answer charges of murder.
