In an incident that the police have linked to a love triangle, a gemstone dealer has been hacked to death in Taita Taveta County.According to Mwatate Administration Police Commander Charles Mbatu, the suspect, a charcoal dealer, followed the victim known as Ben Musili and attacked him over an alleged illicit relationship with his former wife.
“The suspect, who is still at large, laid an ambush and attacked Musili, seriously injuring him,” he said.
Mr Mbatu said the victim was rushed to Voi District Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Police said Musili had been living with a woman who had earlier been married to the suspect.
A neighbour to Musili, said Musili and his assailant had earlier been summoned by APs at Kamtonga Chief’s office to settle the matter but all in vain.
After committing the heinous act, the suspect is said to have fled not to be seen. The police have launched a thorough man hunt for the suspect.
