President Mwai Kibaki’s business partner and political friend Matere Keriri has officially joined The National Alliance (TNA) party.The former State House Comptroller and Kirinyaga Senator seat aspirant made the announcement on Tuesday when he said he had ditched Democratic Party (DP) after soul searching and pressure from his supporters.
Matere, who comes from Martha Karua’s backyard, led several of NARC Kenya officials from Kirinyaga to TNA where he said Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta is a good and competent leader to succeed President Kibaki.
He urged Kenyans who are not tribal to join TNA, saying it is the only party which applies democratic principles and has a national outlook.
Matere, who was sacked from State House after an altercation with First Lady Mama Lucy Kibaki years ago, expressed overwhelming confidence that Uhuru Kenyatta will be the fourth President of Kenya.
He said he will rally all the people of Kirinyaga County to vote in favour of Uhuru Kenyatta.
