A Mombasa court has issued a warrant of arrest against Garsen MP and NARC-Kenya Secretary General Danson Mungatana after the MP failed to show up in court on Thursday to answer to charges of issuing bad checks.
He is charged with issuing three checks to ChwileInvestments Ltd on June 20, 2012 amounting to a total of Sh2.1 million to be drawn on his bank account with prior knowledge that the account had insufficient funds.
The court was told by the MP’s lawyer that the MP was admitted at Karen Hospital and was on ordered bed rest but the prosecutor confirmed that the MP was not at the hospital.
Mombasa Chief Magistrate Stephen Riechi also ordered Mungatana to appear in court on Monday, October 15.
