The International Criminal Court (ICC) has expressed frustration over what it termed as the slow pace the Kenya government is moving towards the four suspects’ cases indicted by The Hague based court early this year.

ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda wrote to Attorney General Githu Muigai asking the State to hasten its promise to deliver certain information to the ICC.

In a September 11 letter, Bensouda’s office said the delay in accessing this information hampers its investigations.

“The slow pace of processing these requests is a source of frustration,” Mr Phakiso Mochochoko, Head of the Jurisdiction at the Prosecutor's office said in the letter.

“We have not received the requested information or any indication that those departments have initiated the requisite measures to provide assistance,” Mr Mochochoko added.

The ICC on March this year requested the Kenya government to give the court minutes of meetings by the National Security Council during the post-election violence and reports of the National Security Intelligence Services.

The move came amid panic at the ICC court after 14 credible witnesses, related to Kenyan cases refused to testify over what they termed as “personal reasons”

Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta, Eldoret North MP William Ruto, former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura and radio presenter Joshua Sang were indicted by the ICC Court on March over crimes against humanity they allegedly committed during the 2007-08 post election violence.
