In an incident that has left residents of Nyahururu fumbled, a man beat his wife to death before he committed suicide at a cliff in Tandar village. It is still not clear what the couple was fighting about as no one was near the house during the afternoon incident.
Ng’arua police boss said they received a distress call from residents who found the body of Samuel Lepa, 30, at the cliff while other residents who had heard the couple’s child screaming reported that they found the body of Lepa’s wife Penina Kirgok, 28, lying at their house in a pool of blood.
Residents said the couple had been having fights for a period of time but no one would tell what they always fought about. The residents suspect that Kirgok was hit with a club on the head by her husband leading to her death.
Kirgok’s baby was strapped to her back when she fell and died but the baby only sustained minor injuries. The baby was rushed to a local health center where she was treated and discharged.
Police suspect that Lepa killed himself after he realized his wife was dead.
