A suspected gangster yesterday had no option but to run into the confines of Nanyuki prison after an angry mob of more than 30 youth pursued him with the motive of lynching him.The man is linked to a series of murders and motorbike thefts in Nanyuki town. It was a hilarious drama according to witnesses as they narrated to the DAILY POST how the suspect was caught. He is said to have been at a barbershop getting a fresh haircut when a victim he had robbed of a motorbike also got in the same barbershop.
It did not take long for the victim to identify the man whom he descended upon with blows and kicks. The gangster on getting the slightest opening took off but the victim put up a hot pursuit after alerting the members of the public.
He was caught at the town’s main bus terminus by motorcycle operators who claimed he was part of a gang that has been terrorizing them.
There too he was beaten thoroughly before he ran to the Nanyuki Prison which is nearby.
More than 10 motorcycles have been reported stolen in the past one week in the town.
