After weeks of speculation over her defection, Sotik MP Joyce Laboso became the latest ODM top lieutenant to dump Prime Minister Raila Odinga for Eldoret North William Ruto’s party United Republic Party(URP).
Laboso joined the URP bandwagon on Saturday at a ceremony witnessed by Eldoret North MP William Ruto.
Ruto who is recovering from a minor surgery received Laboso at his Karen home in Nairobi.
Laboso said she arrived at the decision to dump Raila after wide consultation with her constituents and her family.
“My people told me that despite my good work as their MP, I was as good as done politically if I remained in ODM,” Laboso said.
On his part, Eldoret North lawmaker who is eying for presidency on URP ticket said URP’s popularity would continue to grow as more people identified with its policies.
“URP has always been your home and you are welcome,” Ruto told Laboso
The Sotik MP joins another ODM lieutenant, Rachel Shebesh, who dumped the Premier to join Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta’s bandwagon The National Alliance (TNA) last week.
