Kenya’s Rita Jeptoo won the women’s race of the 2013 Boston Marathon which took place on Monday, April 15th in Boston. Jeptoo finished with a time of 2:26:23, followed in second place by Ethiopia’s Meseret Hailu. This was Jeptoo's second win of the Boston Marathon. She previously won the race in 2006.
The men’s race was won by Ethiopia’s Lelisa Desisa at an unofficial time of 2:10:23. Micah Kogo of Kenya was second in 2:10:27. Another Kenyan in the race and the defending champion, Wesley Korir, finished in fifth position at a time of 2:12:30.
