BREAKING NEWS: University of Nairobi Closed Indefinitely

The University of Nairobi has been shut down indefinitely after a night of protests by students demanding the immediate resignation of ViceChancellor Peter Mbithi. Students at Lower Kabete campus have also blocked Lower Kabete Road protesting assault by police.

This after Mr Mbithi on Monday confirmed that he called for reinforcement from police during demos that demanded the release of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.

The students are protesting the brutality police meted out on them and blame the VC for the incident. More to follow...
