According to the prosecution, Mr. Ali Elema Wario, an Ethiopian national, is a suspected member of Al-Shabaab terror group and was in constant communication with Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed, the lone attacker to lay a siege at Ruto’s home.
Mohammed was gunned down by elite Recce Commandos after 18-hour siege at Ruto’s home. However, the accused, Mr. Ali Elema Wario, denied the charge of being a member of Al-Shabaab as well as being an accomplice in the attack at Ruto’s home. Nonetheless, he admitted being in Kenya illegally as he has no papers to be in the country.
