It is said the matatu had been hired by members of a family and were on their way to Narok for the graduation of one of their kin at Maasai Mara University.
Bomet County Commandant Leah Kithel who confirmed the 3am accident, said it happened when the Nissan matatu collided with an Easy Coach bus headed in the opposite direction.
“The Easy Coach bus was coming from Nairobi towards Kisii while the matatu was headed to Narok from Cherangany,” she noted.
The injured were reportedly rushed to Kaplong Mission Hospital and Kapkatet County Hospital in Kericho where they continue to receive treatment.
