It is the same question as what happens to the user’s social media accounts, only that there’s money involved here.
Safaricom has now come out to clarify. When a Safaricom line is not used for 4 months (120 days), it is taken back to the market, ready to be acquired by another user. If that line was registered for M-Pesa and happened to have money, the cash is put in a bank account for safe storage.
It will only be released to whoever submits certain required documents.
