Yesterday Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua launched 120 state of the art police patrol cars, 40 sniffer dogs, alcoblow kits, CCTV cameras and communication equipment for the police.
The patrol cars will be distributed to all constituencies in Machakos while the sniffer dogs are to be distributed to 40 wards.
The Governor said that the elaborate security programme will be coordinated through already established call centres in Machakos Town, Athi River, Masii, Kangundo and Masinga, which he said will be operational day and night.
He also revealed that his government had set aside Sh300 million for police housing in the next financial year. A forensic lab with DNA equipment is also coming soon.
