A 31 year-old man was killed by his own father in Marakwet East district over cooking sufurias.
The deceased, Joseph Cheptoo Maiyo, got married recently and rented a house in Kerio Valley five kilometers away from his parents’ home. One day , he visited the parents’ home and forcefully made away with cooking sufurias.
Speaking to the media, the mother to the deceased said that the son returned home and demanded to have sufurias because he had married but had no sufurias. The father refused asking him to work hard to buy his own items.
The father and son started throwing harsh words and a fist fight ensued. The deceased wrestled the old man to the ground and escaped with two sufurias.
Area OCPD, Philip Opiyo, said that the angered father armed himself with a bow and a poisoned arrow and followed his son to his house where he shot at him at close range killing him instantly .
Opiyo said that the two had been constantly quarreling but no one knew that it would end tragically . The police have launched investigations into the incident and will soon arrest the suspect who is still at large.
The body of the deceased is ly ing at the mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
