How To Get Through A Breakup, According To Britney Spears

It's been almost a year since Britney Spears and her former manager Jason Trawick decided not to do the whole "happily ever after" thing and get married. And, now, she's doing just fine — with a new album out, a Las Vegas residency in the pipeline, and a new man on her arm.

The good stuff isn't all that surprising — she's one of the biggest pop stars on the planet and has been through a breakup or two in her day — but since some of her new Britney Jean album deals with the split, she's been spouting off in interviews about what it really takes to move on.

Behold: Britney's fool-proof ways to get over heartache. Take notes.

1. Find someone new. "Just get another guy really quick!" she said. "I think if you get another boyfriend, it's really easy to get over it." She was kidding, but kinda not, considering she coupled up with new beau David Lucado less than a month after her split.

2. Make time for your friends. "I think you need a lot of friends around you and you need to go to the movies and have dinner dates with your girlfriends. Yeah, I think that's important."

3. Do what makes you happy. “When you go through heartbreak, you just do the things that get you by. Eventually you realize it’s about making the most of life. Even on the album when it talks about having a good time with friends and family, it’s because these are the things that make you happy and get you through heartbreak," she said.

4. Look for "magical love." “You put yourself through it again and again,” Spears said moving on. “But each time love takes you over. It feels different every time for me. Every guy who I’ve been with, it’s been a different kind of love. And right now, I’m having a magical love.”

5. Don't keep it all in. "I feel like when you write you do depict from what you're going through in your life, and that's what I was going through at the time, so it just made sense for me, therapeutically, to write it out and get it out," Britney said. "You kinda of do put yourself in an exposed situation and you're putting yourself out there a little bit, but I feel like it's better to do that than keep it in." Taylor Swift agrees.

And there you have it. Don't you feel better already?
