According to St Johns Ambulance, four people died on the spot during the 7:30 am incident, while six others succumbed to their injuries at the Coast General Hospital in Mombasa where they had been referred.
The accident occurred when a bus carrying Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) youths to Nairobi from a conference in Ukunda, Kwale County collided with a trailer heading to Mombasa.
Some of the passengers who survived the accident said the bus driver was trying to overtake another vehicle when it collided with the trailer.
The bus driver is among those who died on the spot.
Most of the injured were taken to private hospitalsin Mariakani due to thecurrent health workers' strike in public hospitalscountrywide.
Others were referred to hospitals in Mombasa, including Aga Khan Hospital and the Coast General hospital, while others asked to be transferred to Nairobi to seek treatment.
