17-year-old Xi Jianmei can finally smile for the first time after her face was badly disfigured from when she was aged just five.
Xi Jianmei had her new face grown on her breast using a blood vessel from her leg and ballon to expand her skin. It however took several months for the new face to grow to the right size to cover her missing features.Doctors offered to perform the pioneering operation on the girl free of charge. The procedure is similar to another which took place last month when a group of doctors gave a crash victim a new nose by growing it on his forehead.
