KDF Destroys Camp Where Westgate Attackers Trained

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) said they had on Thursday destroyed a camp in Dinsoor region of Somalia where the Westgate attackers are believed to have trained after conducting an aerial offensive on the location.

“The airstrike completely destroyed an Al Shabaab training camp at Hurguun. Initial reports from the ground confirmed that 4 technical vehicles and a weapons’ store were destroyed,” read a statement from KDFs Information Officer Col. Cyrus Oguna.

The camp is said to have had more than 300 recruits whom are believed to have perished at the time of the attack.

According to KDF the training camp had been used by Al Shabaab to train operatives some of whom eventually sneeked into Kenya.
