Five suspected thugs were shot dead on Tuesday night in Dagoretti, Ngong and Ngando areas of Nairobi after carjacked passengers gave police an alert.
“I confirm that five carjackers were killed last night after officers intercepted 2 Citihopa PSV in Dagoretti & Ngando, Ngong rd respectively. Passengers alerted us,” said Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo in his tweet.
“I commend Police County Commander Nairobi and his officers for the swift action last night when alerted by the carjacked passengers. Kudos” he tweeted.
Just last month, a Nigerian national was shot dead in a matatu robbery along Mombasa Road after he refused to heed the thugs' orders after they demanded for cash and other valuables.
