It is now emerging that the world’s most wanted woman could have celebrated Halloween in Nairobi with her children.
Newly revealed pictures show Samantha Lewthwaite alias the White Widow with her son and daughter wearing Halloween costumes.
The UK’s Daily Mirror, which published the pictures, said the photos could have been taken in any family home at this time of the year, when Halloween is celebrated.
Halloween festival, an ancient Scottish tradition that remembers the dead, is often marked around October and November with fancy dress competitions and ghoulish games. Few Nairobians celebrate the festival and many believe it is associated with Satanism.
If the White Widow celebrated Halloween, then it is possible she could have been in the city. Last week, The Nairobian reported that the al-Shabaab woman moved to Nairobi in February 2011 and lived in a rented apartment on Ngong Road, less than 100 metres from Junction Mall with her four children.
She paid Sh60,000 for the three-bedroom flat but the police said on October 23 that they were not aware that the woman popularly known as the ‘White Widow’ rented an apartment near Junction Mall in 2011.
In the pictures, the Daily Mirror said the wanted terrorist was with daughter Ruqayyah, eight – whose father is the London 2005 suicide bomber Germaine Lindsay and five-year-old Abdur-Rahman – who the Daily Mirror says is being groomed to be a suicide bomber.
