KTN investigative journalist Mohammed Ali has demanded an apology from KDF chief Julius Karangi and Inspector General of Kenya Police David Kimaiyo who had last week accused him of spreading lies in a Jicho Pevu expose on the Westgate attacks.
The security chiefs had accused Mohammed and his fellow investigative journalist John-Allan Namu of spreading propaganda and lies after the expose uncovered looting at the mall by KDF soldiers as the hostage rescue efforts were underway. The security chiefs had earlier denied that any looting by soldiers took place and said they only took drinking water from a supermarket, with the authorization of the supermarket’s management. General Karangi however yesterday admitted that two soldiers looted from stores and said the said soldiers, Victor Otieno and Victor Ashiundu, had been sacked and arrested while a third one was under investigation.
“Karangi na Kimaiyo sasa ombeni msamaha wanahabari wazalendo waliofichua maovu kwa kuogopa Mungu na kusema kweli. Ukweli umedhihirika sasa,” Mohammed tweeted shortly after General Karangi’s statement.
