Edith Casas, 22, married Victor Cingolani today near the prison where he is serving a 13 year sentence for the murder of model Johana Casas.
Johana was shot dead days before her 20th birthday in August 2010, in the southern city of Pico Truncado, Argentina, 1,200 miles south of the capital, Buenos Aires.
Cingolani, an ex-boyfriend, was convicted of the murder.
The controversial wedding took place in the hometown of Edith with just two friends as witnesses. However, several armed police officers also were present when Cingolani was escorted from the city jail. Edith's family said she was guilty of a terrible betrayal.
The twins’ mother, Marcelina, claimed her surviving daughter suffered psychological problems and said she feared Cingolani will take her life too.
She said: "There are no words to describe what Edith is doing. She is guilty of a terrible betrayal.”
Edith, Cingolani girlfriend of five years, has insisted that her future husband is the victim of a miscarriage of justice and supports his appeal against his conviction for murder. She said: “Victor is not a violent person and I'm not crazy. We have no doubts about what we are doing. We love each other."
