Mike Sonko rescued over 100 women who had delivered but were unable to clear their maternity bills. The women had been held in the hospital for quite a long time since one cannot be discharged unless the bill is cleared.
At Pumwani Maternity Hospital he cleared bills for close to 60 women while at Mama Lucy Hospital he paid for close to 47 mothers. He also paid for their enrollment fees to join NHIF plus 3 months advance as a sensational motivation so that in future they will be able to cater for their medical bills.
