Three of the bandits were in-turn killed by residents as they tried to flee. The incident has left villagers in shock as they complain over rising insecurity.
Narok OCPD Peterson Maelo said among the 6 are 2 brothers who were killed after they went out of their house in Mbiti village, to find out what was happening when they heard a commotion in their cow pen.
“The neighbours who were attracted by gunshots cornered two of the raiders and lynched them but one managed to escape towards the Tanzania border, Administration Police and KWS officers are pursuing them,” said Maelo who added that an AK47 riffle and 24 bullets were recovered from the lynched suspects.
A team of Narok county leaders led by women representative Soipan Tuya, county governor Samuel Ole Tunai, Narok South MP Korei Lemein and senator Stephen Ole Ntutucondemned the attack and called for government intervention.
The bodies of the dead were taken to Narok District Hospital mortuary.
It is believed the animosity between the two communities is linked to long-standing dispute over grazing and farming rights.
Last year the DC dispatched a team of Maasai elders led by Loita DO Josiah Odongo to Tanzainia to protest an earlier attack and to find a lasting solution to the perennial animosity after the Sonjo militia attacked a village and injured more than 10 Kenyans.
