The Jubilee Government will facilitate regular inter-community visits to improve women’s economic well-being and unite the country, Deputy President-elect William Ruto’s wife Rachel has said.
Mrs Ruto said on Friday at Brade Gate Poultry Industries in Nyeri that such visits would not only see women from different communities realise they had common problems.
She said the Government would keep its promise of affordable loans to women that would transform them from subsistence farmers to agro-entrepreneurs.
“I know this promise will be kept because I live with the Deputy President-elect,” said Mrs Ruto on a light note.
She was in Nyeri with women’s groups from four North Rift counties who had come to learn about modern poultry management methods.
The firm’s director, Dr Thuo Mathenge, said chicken rearing could turn around rural economies if done properly.
He said his dream was to see Kenya produce chickens as a speciality product, just like Japan exported cars.
