The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Ahmed Issack Hassan has insisted that the March 4th, 2013 General Election was free and fair.Hassan says that the election was not a total failure as depicted by some quota and that the IEBC will now reflect on the challenges it encountered in the process and work on them.
The IEBC Chief says that the electoral body will lay down strategies for the next elections that will allow for timely procurement of equipment and testing to avoid a repeat of technological failures such as those experienced in the results transmission system in the March elections. He associated the failure of the electronic results transmission system to late deployment and testing of equipment saying that the equipment and systems should be tested at least 12 months to the elections.
