A police officer demanded that his pregnant girlfriend get an abortion. After she refused he viciously attacked her.

The police officer repeatedly punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach to try to cause a miscarriage. He was sentenced to ten years jail.

Matthew Cherry, 35, used a ski mask and a fake accent to launch the savage attack on Caroline Craft at her apartment in Bournemouth, Dorset.

He punched her in the stomach and back, aiming for her unborn child and left her bloodied and bruised after the attack.

Surprisingly, Ms. Craft was not seriously injured and gave birth to a child.

Cherry was angry and upset that Ms. Craft, 27, also a police officer, would not have an abortion and the couple separated, Winchester Crown Court heard during the trial that took eight days.

Cherry, of Southampton, denied attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent in the well-planned attack.

But the jury found him guilty, rejecting his claim that he was not the aggressor and was several miles away from the house at the time of the attack.

Ms. Craft was six months pregnant when she opened the door to a masked attacker, thinking it was a real estate agent who had come to see her flat.

Once inside he viciously attacked her and bound her to the toilet seat. The attacker fled when the real estate agent arrived.
