Monday’s General Election was not kind to some former MPs and Cabinet ministers.?
Ministers Amos Kimunya (Transport), Musa Sirma (East African Cooperation) and Dr Sally Kosgei (Agriculture) faced the wrath of voters in what was mostly guided by party popularity.

Mr ?Kimunya lost his Kipipiri parliamentary seat that he had held for 10 years while Dr Kosgei was among the casualties of the URP wave in Nandi County. Dr Kosgei was first elected to Parliament in 2007 and immediately appointed Higher Education Minister, before being moved to the Agriculture docket.?
Kimunya has had ups and downs in his life in Parliament, having been among the very few ministers in the Kenyan history to be given a vote of no confidence in the August House. ?The loss of former Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny, who was one of the most vocal campaigners in Jubilee coalition, was another surprise.?
A first-time MP, Kuttuny became a popular politician and will be remembered for his youthful and boisterous speeches that were mixed with slang.
Education Assistant Minister and former Muhoroni MP Ayiecho Olweny, who? contested on an ODMticket, lost his seat to a candidate of the People’s Democratic Party associated with former South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara. Former Rangwe MP Martin Ogindo lost his bid for Homa Bay Constituency to Peter Kaluma.?
 Lost his bid
In Rift Valley, most Tenth Parliament legislators who stuck with ODM lost their seats to URP rivals. ?In Kericho, Energy Assistant Minister Magerer Lang’at could not withstand the URP wave, same to Jebii Kilimo in Marakwet East, who vied on The National Alliance party.
Former Rongai MP Luka Kigen also lost his bid, same as former Naivasha legislator John Mututho, who failed to clinch the seat.?
Mututho will be remembered for his ‘Mututho law’ that attempted to streamline the alcohol industry. He also chaired the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture in the Tenth Parliament.? In Kitui, outgoing Yatta MP Charles Kilonzo failed to recapture the seat that he won in 2007 through theODM-Kenya party.? In the Western region, Assistant Ministers Bifwoli Wakoli (Lands) and Manyala Keya (Gender), and former MPs David Were and Justus Kizito? did not recapture their seats in the elections.
Bifwoli, who has served Bumula Constituency for a decade, had initially announced his intention to vie for presidency before he shelved it and went back to defend his seat. Wakoli (Ford-Kenya) lost to newcomer and lawyer Boniface Otsyula. Mr Otsyula got 18,072 while Wakoli managed 11,946 votes.
?In Matungu, Were initially lost the nomination on his former party ODM during the primaries and decamped to New Ford-K Party, but he was beaten for the second time by businessman Paul Posho.
Shinyalu former MP Kizito came in through a by-election after the seat fell vacant following the death of Charles Lugano of ODM.?It was double tragedy for Kizito, whose car was burned on Monday, in an incident he blamed on his opponents. He lost to Anami Lisamula ofODM.?
Butula former MP Alfred Odhiambo failed to recapture his seat after decamping to another party following a loss in ODM.- standard
