K24 TV, a media house owned by Mediamax, a company associated with president-elect Uhuru Kenyatta posted a tweet which they have since deleted which seemed to preempt the proceedings of the supreme court and insinuating that Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency will be sustained and that all the petitions will be dropped and that the 9th of April 2013 will be an official public holiday as the president-elect gets sworn in.
The tweet read “Supreme Court ends hearing…FINALLY Tomorrow in their judgement they will uphold the elections – April 9th holiday” and it came from the official K24 twitter account, @K24TV.
This sparked a reaction both online and offline with unconfirmed reports claiming that there was tension in Kisumu and Kibera and other CORD strongholds. Coming from a station that is owned by the president-elect, it leaves a lot of questions to be answered and this has prompted Mediamax to file a report with the police explaining that their Twitter account was hacked and someone outside the company posted controversial tweet.
Below is the letter that they filed with the police.
