Jubilee Coalition has settled on former Siakago MPJustin Muturi and former Turkana Central MP Ekwe Ethuro as candidates for the position of Speaker of the National Assembly and Senate respectively.Sotik MP Dr Joyce Laboso will be backed for Deputy speaker in parliament while Kembi Gitura is running for the same position in the Senate.
It took the intervention of president elect Uhuru kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to break the stalemate over the candidates to back by the Coalition.
The team was unveiled after a day long meeting at Naivasha by 236 MPs and senators.
Francis Kaparo the former Speaker of the National Assembly and former Wajir South MP Dr Mohamud Sirat. Confirmed they had been prevailed upon by Uhuru and Ruto step down.
“I stepped down for Ethuro after lengthy,honest and fruitful discussions with Uhuru and Ruto this morning,”Kaparo said.
Sirat said ,” I was prevailed upon by the President elect and his deputy to support Muturi and I will do just that,”
Uhuru and Ruto will Thursday morning lead their team out of Naivasha to Nairobi for swearing in and electing Speaker in both Houses.
