Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Ongeri Loses Kisii's Senatorial Seat

Foreign Affairs minister Prof Sam Ongeri has lost the Kisii County senate seat. The immediate former Nyaribari Masaba MP emerged second in the race, with 106,325 votes on a TNA ticket. The seat was won by ODM’s Chris Obure with 120,351 votes. Omigo Magara of PDP emerged third with 100,754 votes.

Ongeri joins a growing list of veteran political heavyweights who have lost in various races across the country. That list includes Industrialization minister Henry Kosgey, Heritage minister William ole Ntimama,Transport minister Amos Kimunya, and Lands Assistant minister Bifwoli Wakoli.

Immediate former Imenti Central MP Gitobu Imanyara also lost his Meru senatorial bid to Energy minister Kiraitu Muringi while Joshua Kutuny failed to reclaim his Cherangani MP seat on an URP ticket. -Mwakilishi
