In the latest FIFA/Coca Cola World Ranking released today, Nigeria retained her 30th position in the world despite an impressive showing at the last Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa where the Super Eagles emerged champions after a 19-year trophy drought at the continental showpiece event.
Cote d’Ivoire are still Africa’s number one ranked country and 13th in the World (dropping one spot down). Ghana, Mali, Nigeria and Algeria complete the top 5 positions in Africa in that order.
There are very few changes in the upper ranks, with Spain continuing to hold a comfortable lead at the top over Germany and Argentina while Colombia have assumed outright sixth place on the global ladder – a position they shared with Portugal, who drop down a slot.
