It is said that the officer was following some criminals who had robbed a couple their car in Nairobi when he met his untimely death.
Speaking on the matter, Nairobi Police chief Benson Kibui said that the officer sustained gunshot wounds in his head and chest. He explained that the deceased was ambushed by the armed criminals on Bunyala Road as he was following them.
Benson added that the thugs escaped on foot and no arrest had been made so far. He however assured locals that a manhunt had been launched and the suspects will be brought to light.
The body was taken to Nairobi City Council mortuary.
